Facebook Marketplace car ad template for Canadian dealers

A copyable title and description for any used car, with the all-in price note up top and your dealer details at the bottom.

Title template

Facebook builds a vehicle ad's title from the year, make and model you enter. Year and make come from lists, so the trim goes in the Model box.

[Year] [Make] [Model] [Trim] [Cab or drive, if it helps]
  • Stick to facts buyers search for: model, trim, cab, drive.
  • Add a tag like Accident free only when it is true.
  • Leave the price out. It has its own box.

Description template

Paste this into Facebook's description box, fill in the brackets and delete lines that do not apply.

[All-in price note] Message or call [rep name] at [phone] Ext. [extension].

[Used, if current or previous model year] [Year] [Make] [Model] [Trim], [one line on who it suits].

• [Feature]: [why it matters]
• [Feature]: [why it matters]

History
• [Accident record, as on the vehicle history report]
• [Owners, and any past rental, police or taxi use]
• [Warranty, only if included: name, term and claim limits, in your exact words]

[All-in price note]
[Registered dealership name]
[Dealership address, as registered]
Stock #[stock number]
Dealer #[registration number]
  • All-in price note. Ontario: "Price includes all fees. Plus HST and licensing." Other provinces differ: see the all-in price note.
  • Dealer contact. In Ontario, use a contact OMVIC lists publicly for the dealership, such as its business address. A rep's own phone can be added, but it does not replace the dealer contact.

What each block does

  • Opening line. The all-in price note first, then who to message.
  • Intro line. The car and who it suits. In Ontario, say Used if it is the current or previous model year.
  • Specs line. One line buyers can scan.
  • Highlights. Three to six features, each with why it matters.
  • History. Ontario ads must disclose past use as a daily rental (unless an individual has owned it since), a police or emergency vehicle, or a taxi or limousine. A warranty you mention needs its term and claim limits.
  • Footer. The price note again, registered dealership name, a dealer contact, stock number and Dealer #.

Dealer details by province

  • Ontario. The registered name and a contact OMVIC lists publicly, such as the business address. OMVIC's guideline does not ask for a registration number, and it recommends a stock number or VIN.
  • British Columbia. The registered name and the dealer number, shown prominently (the VSA accepts "D# 00000"), and the stock number or VIN of the car.
  • Other provinces. See dealer ad rules on Marketplace in Canada.

The all-in price note

In Ontario, the advertised price must include every fee the dealer intends to collect, except HST and licensing, and the ad must say clearly that those two are extra (OMVIC). Put this line at the top of your description and in your footer:

Price includes all fees. Plus HST and licensing.

OMVIC lists fees that must be inside the price:

  • Freight and PDI-PDE.
  • Administration fees and the OMVIC fee.
  • Government levies, such as air tax.
  • Pre-installed add-ons, such as a nitrogen tire package or etching.
  • Safety certification, unless the ad carries OMVIC's unfit or as-is statement.

Licensing means only the actual cost of registration and plates.

Other provinces set their own exclusions. Manitoba, for example, lets dealers leave out only PST and GST (Manitoba Consumer Protection Office), so "plus licensing" does not fit there. Check your province in dealer ad rules on Marketplace in Canada.

Photo tips

Post plenty of real photos of the actual car, in the same order every time. DealerJet posts up to 20 per ad, in the order you choose.

  1. Front three-quarter view, as the cover.
  2. Side, rear three-quarter and rear.
  3. Dashboard, with the odometer showing the kilometres.
  4. Seats, cargo area, wheels and tires.
  5. Close-ups of any damage you mention.
  • Show the actual car. For marketplace posts, OMVIC's January 26, 2026 tips say to use an image of the actual vehicle, not AI-generated photos or manufacturer stock photos.
  • In DealerJet, a car with only one photo waits in Needs review.

What to avoid

Leave out anything a buyer cannot get at the price and terms shown.

  • Fees on top. "Plus doc fee" or "plus admin fee" after the price breaks Ontario's all-in rule.
  • Financing bait. "Everyone approved", or a payment with no terms. OMVIC calls it misleading to say financing is available if you cannot provide or arrange it. Show a rate or payment and you must also show the APR, term and cash price, plus the cost of borrowing unless it is interest only.
  • Hidden conditions. A finance-only price must say so clearly. If an ad shows one price with no conditions, buyers can assume anyone can pay it.
  • A finance price in the price box. Facebook has one price box. When a platform can show only one price, OMVIC says to put the higher of your cash and finance prices there, and the lower price and its conditions in the description (OMVIC, September 29, 2026).
  • Missing dealer details. A rep's ad cannot look like a private sale. OMVIC lets salespeople post on Facebook Marketplace with the dealer's approval, if the ad carries the dealer's information.

How DealerJet writes descriptions

DealerJet's ad writer writes each description from the car's details; reword it with one click. What you see in Your Ad Description is what posts, with your compliance footer added once at the bottom.

  • Each rep's name, phone and extension go into the descriptions DealerJet writes for them.
  • Warranty and financing lines print exactly as you type them. DealerJet never writes them.
  • The footer adds your disclosure text, dealership name and Dealer # when entered, and the car's stock number when your dealer page lists one. It leaves out your address and main phone, so type your dealer contact into your disclosure text.
  • Long text is trimmed to fit Facebook's limit. The footer is always kept.
  • DealerJet flags risky lines you type into Your Ad Description, like a phone number or a financing claim.

It fills the rest of Facebook's vehicle form too: see what DealerJet fills and posts.
