How to post your AutoTrader.ca inventory to Facebook Marketplace

Copy each car into Facebook's vehicle form by hand, or let DealerJet read your AutoTrader.ca dealer page and fill in the form for each car that is Ready to post.

Last updated: October 13, 2026

The manual way

Retype each car from AutoTrader.ca into Facebook's vehicle form, one at a time.

  1. Save the car's photos from your AutoTrader.ca dealer page.
  2. On Facebook, open Marketplace, create a vehicle listing and choose Car/Truck.
  3. Upload the photos and set the location.
  4. Pick the year and make. Type the model, mileage and price.
  5. Choose body style, colours, condition, fuel type and transmission. Tick clean title only if the car has one.
  6. Write the description with your dealership's name, then publish.
  7. Repeat for every car. When a price changes on AutoTrader.ca, edit the Facebook ad too.

Why a personal profile? Meta stopped supporting vehicle listings from Facebook business Pages in Canada on January 30, 2023 (Meta's notice, archived copy). More in can car dealers post on Facebook Marketplace.

The DealerJet way

Connect your AutoTrader.ca dealer page once. DealerJet imports, refreshes and posts from there.

1. Connect your dealer page

An owner or admin opens Inventory, Manage sources, pastes the dealer page link and presses Import.

  • Paste your dealership's page, like autotrader.ca/dealers/123456. A link to a single car will not work.
  • Photos, price, kilometres, trim, colours and specs come in when your page lists them. Post only photos your dealership owns or has permission to use.
  • One source at a time. No CSV upload and no DMS connection: DealerJet reads your dealer page.

2. It refreshes every night

Around 1 to 2 AM Eastern, DealerJet reads your dealer page again.

  • New cars appear and price changes come through.
  • If your page lists 10 or more cars, a car that leaves it is marked Sold and stops being posted. Never when the page failed to load.
  • Your fixes to body style, colours, condition, transmission, fuel, kilometres and trim are kept.
  • Price, year, make and model come from AutoTrader.ca, so correct those there. Refresh from source pulls one car now.

3. Each rep posts from their own account

The DealerJet Chrome extension fills Facebook's form in each rep's own browser, on their own Facebook account.

  • Post with one click, with Auto-publish, or on a schedule.
  • 1 to 10 posts a day per rep, spaced out, on the days and start time you pick.
  • Each car is filled and posted one at a time; the schedule paces the rest.
  • Chrome stays open during posting hours, with Facebook set to English (US).

What goes in each Facebook field

Each field comes from your AutoTrader.ca listing, your fixes on the car or your own settings. Location is left as Facebook sets it.

What to check before posting

Start with Needs review. A car missing something Facebook needs, or with only one photo, waits there with a tag naming what is missing.

  • Required tags. Price, photos, mileage, year, make, model, body style or transmission. Fix a missing price on AutoTrader.ca, then press Refresh from source.
  • Title. Set Rebuilt or Salvage on the car when it applies.
  • Your Ad Description. It is what posts (very long text is trimmed to fit Facebook). Warranty and financing lines print as you type them.
  • Compliance footer. Your disclosure text, dealership name and Dealer # (when entered), and the car's stock number when your dealer page lists one, are added once at the bottom. See dealer ad rules on Marketplace in Canada.

AutoTrader.ca vs Facebook Marketplace for dealers

Use both. AutoTrader.ca sells dealers advertising packages to reach car shoppers. Marketplace reaches people already on Facebook.

Meta's Commerce Policies say Marketplace is intended for consumer-to-consumer sales, and Facebook can reject or remove listings that break its policies. Your province's advertising rules apply on both.

How they work together:

  • Keep AutoTrader.ca as the place you manage inventory and prices.
  • Use Marketplace to reach people browsing Facebook. Expect competition: Meta says 44 million vehicles are listed on Marketplace every month, worldwide (July 24, 2026).
  • Let DealerJet keep them in step: the nightly refresh brings changes in, price updates edit Connected ads, and Sync with Facebook shows what differs when you run it. More in price drops and sold cars.

Questions

Can I post my AutoTrader.ca cars to Facebook Marketplace automatically?

Yes, with DealerJet. Turn on scheduled posting and Auto-publish. Each rep's Chrome then posts Ready cars from their own Facebook account, up to the 1 to 10 a day you set, on the days and start time you pick. Chrome must be open during posting hours.

Which AutoTrader.ca link do I paste into DealerJet?

Your dealership's page, which looks like autotrader.ca/dealers/123456. A link to a single car will not work.

Is DealerJet part of AutoTrader.ca?

No. DealerJet is independent, built in Canada, and not affiliated with AutoTrader.ca. It reads your dealership's own public dealer page.

Do price changes on AutoTrader.ca reach my Facebook ads?

Yes, on ads Connected to the car, when Update prices on Facebook is switched on. The nightly refresh brings the new price in. Then, while the rep's Chrome is open, DealerJet changes the price on the ad and checks that Facebook shows it.

What happens when a car sells?

DealerJet stops posting it once it is marked Sold: by you, or by the nightly refresh when the car leaves your dealer page (if your page lists 10 or more cars). The Facebook ad stays up until you take it down. Sync with Facebook flags it as a Sold mismatch when you run it.

Can I use AutoTrader.ca and CarGurus at the same time?

No. DealerJet reads one source at a time: AutoTrader.ca or CarGurus. On CarGurus? Read CarGurus to Facebook Marketplace.
